  The registration staff are always nice and again we're today. But a laboratory technician/phlebotomist was bizarrely rude to our family. Our son had been NPO or fasting for over 8 hours which is not easy due to being on seizure meds, and being young child with Autism, etc. After waiting patiently for close to 40 minutes, we were called back. The technician took the script at the door which is unusual and verified our son was fasting in before we went back. That's fine, so I answered yes, but then our daughter said well he had breakfast but he has been NPO for over 8 hours. The laboratory technician took a few steps and abruptly and rudely said "oh no....he had to not eat for 10-12 hours. At no point did anyone including the doctor who ordered the tests ever say 10-12 hours. So she started escorting us out of the hallway back to the waiting room. I work in healthcare and if I behaved anywhere near the way this technician acted today towards a patient, I most likely would be fired on the spot or had significant repercussions. Our son by the time the lab was getting ready to do the test was within 1/2 an hour of being 10 hours NPO. Why not offer for us to sit back in the waiting room for that last 1/2 hour and then complete it. It was horrific customer service. It can be hard enough having a child with Autism, we do not need the extra stress of be treated so poorly. We will be going to Grays Woods from now on since we always have a wonderful experience there. We have no time for such unprofessionalism!
